TRAIL CONDITIONS
1/25/10 RAIN RAIN GO AWAY
Like many surrounding areas Westbrook received all rain Sunday night and Monday. Most trails have little to no snow. Lets hope for a deep freeze and some snow soon.Needless to say all grooming has stopped until we receive more snow.

1/23/10 Groomers Notes From Wally
All trails on our system were groomed last night for the Sunday Riders. Trails are in pretty good shape for now. Will report more after Mondays rain storm. Check back soon.
1/20/10 Groomers Notes From Dan McCarthy
Brown Trout Trail, Wormell Trail, and Prides Corner Church Trail were all groomed last night. All trails are in good shape with more grooming to come.

1/18/10 Groomers Notes From Wally & Mike
We received approx. 16" of new snow over the last 2 days. The Railroad was groomed from Pierce Street to The Windham Correctional Center. All other trails will be groomed within the next few days once the trails are packed.Stay tuned for updates.

1/12/10 Groomers Notes From Wally Carey
All grooming will be suspended until we receive more snow. The trails are very thin with a lot of obstacles in the trails.Too much damage would be done to the equipment if we tried grooming with such little snow.

1/11/10 Groomers Notes From Daryll Longstreet
Trail trimming was done on Sat 1/09 & Sunday 1/10 on the New Wormell Trail. Brush was cut from trail, snow was shoveled in to low areas, and limbs were cut.The trail is open all the way to Hardy Road where it meets up with The Falmouth Trail System. This trail is brand new and will continue to get better.
Cut 4 stumps out of The Brown Trout trail on Saturday. Shoveled more snow in the low spots.Could use some more snow. Cut limbs and Trees going to Wake N Bake Cafe. Trail is wide enough for sleds. Go grab a bite for Breakfast or Lunch.
Trimmed brush behind Prides Corner Church. Worked on rerouting the Trail crossing 302 headed toward Wormell Field. Lots of work is being done, now we need Mother Nature to help out !

1/8/10 Groomers Notes from Dan McCarthy
Just returned from grooming. There were about 12 riders out tonight. They all had great things to say about Trail Signage and conditions for what little snow we have received. The Railroad Bed, Latini Loop, Junior High Trail, Poitras Trail, and Brown Trout Trail have all been groomed and are in decent shape. There are a few wet spots on The Poitras Trail that should check up by the end of the weekend. All in all the trails are pretty good.

1/4/10 Groomers Notes from Mike T & Wally C
The railroad bed is being groomed almost every night by Mike & Waly. We are waiting  for the other trails to check up before grooming. Walley was able to get a small drag down through the Junior High Trail.See pictures below.

This is a new trail in 2009 stretching from the end of The Junior High Trail to Methodist Road. Use this trail to get from The Junior High School and RailRoad Bed to all points in Westbrook, Windham, and Falmouth.
New Trail- A nice trail that bypasses the old Poleline Trail. This trail stretches from the end of the Junior High Trail through the woods to Methodist Road or Small Hardy Road.

There are some wet holes that have yet to freeze.

Need a Kayak to pass.

Use caution in the dips.

Bare and wet.

Latini Loop
2 Mile Loop off the Railroad Bed heading toward Pierce Street.

Highland Lake

Highland Lake is NOT part of the Westbrook Trail Blazes trail system.  Use the lake for riding at your own risk.

There is no grooming on the lake.

Have heard reports of a few fisherman on parts of the lake. The lake is still open in parts. As always use caution when venturing on to bodys of water. Contact you local Warden for accurate information.

1/23/10

Wormell Trail

Trail starts in Wormell Field on Route 302. Crossing over Brook Road and finishing on Hardy Road in Falmouth. This is a connector trail to the Falmouth Trail System. This trail is new this year and still needs some work.

2 New Bridges have already been complete with a few more on the radar for next fall. Daryll & a few others have worked  hard to get this trail open for the 2010 season.

Great Shape for a new trail.
